MTD 990 super garden tractors.

Here is my 1974 MTD 990.





Here is the 1977 MTD 990. These are the only pictures of it in one piece so bare with me.
It is the tractor on the right.

Yes it does. It can lift 500 pounds. This does not mean I can drive with that much weight hanging off the back but it will pick it up.

There is no clutch on these machines. The transmission is a 2 speed hydrostatic. The hydro pump is an Eaton 11 and the axle is a Peerless 2503 very tough combo.

Sounds like the MTD cub.......there was a hydro version of it, too. Was there a manual version available?

I am not sure if they did make a manual MTD cub. I think they did just can't think of the model number(s) off the top of my head.
Oh before I forget the 990 is shaft driven.

So, have you got any attachments for her?

Can't say I've ever seen one of these tractors! pretty cool.

Right now all I have is the 42inch shaft driven mower. This tractor takes cat 0 three point hitch implements.

This is one tough machine. I have seen these pull 12 inch one bottom plows and logs 36 inches in diameter and 12 feet long in the snow up hill.
My neighbor rolled the thing in her yard a few years ago. no damage to the machine but it scared her pretty bad. Now I get to make money and play on the John Deere in her yard.

Don't look too bad, either.
