Any one mowing yet?
Well I did the first mow of the year here today. Just a small part of the yard but still fun. The machine of choice is the 2006 John Deere X520 with 54 inch mower.

Re: Any one mowing yet?
Oh yea, Been mowing yards since last part of February. Things are really starting to pick up in good shape here of course our temps have been running up in the 80's only problem is we haven't had a lot of rain. It really does look like the middle of summer here. If I can get some time I'll try to get some pictures and post them soon.
Re: Any one mowing yet?
Its dry here but the grass is starting to turn green and grow. The temps have been in the 60's for the most part but it will be 83 or so tomorrow.
In a few days I will snap some pictures of the field I have to mow next.
I can't wait to see some pictures when you get the chance to get them.

Good looking yard. Your mower cuts very well.
I wish I could get the side yard in one shot.

Re: Any one mowing yet?
Yea it's kind of tight around here, not much between the houses but the back and front yards aren't to bad. Mines a corner with a retention pond so I have a little more than most.
Re: Any one mowing yet?
It looks tight but if that's what you have to work with I say go for it.
I have a friend in Port St. Lucie that mows for a living and most of his customers have lots close to what you have. The only hard parts are near the canals. Mostly because it is steeper than the rest of the properties he cuts.

Re: Any one mowing yet?
Yea I know that well, I have a lot of retention ponds that I cut around and they can be a pain. I'm waiting for the day I slide one of the ZTR down into the water. That's going to be a fun time. If they get to steep I have a 36" walk behind I use around them. The nice thing about living in a subdivision is that most of them have big commercial outfits that are supposed do the pond areas but it seems like they frequently get forgotten. I just do what I can do for people.
Re: Any one mowing yet?
I have been waiting to get the John Deere stuck in the ditch but have been lucky for the past 5 years. For the real steep stuff I break out one of the Stihl weedeaters or the Troybilt push mower.
Around here the sub divisions where all the rich people live use large companies usually Brickman or Bland Landscaping. They do a good job but I think I can do better with the detail stuff.

All the Rich people I must be missing somethin, I'm so Rich that if right tonight they were selling steamboats for a dime apiece all I could do is run back and fourth to the bank
and holler ain't that cheap.

Re: Any one mowing yet?
If they are selling steamboats for a dime apiece I'll take 2.
I have to tap into the subdivision market. I think I can do well with small lots that don't kill my day mowing.

Re: Any one mowing yet?
Hey Subdivisions are the way to go. The subdivision I live in I have 43 accounts all within about a 4 mile radius of my house, it keeps thing close and cuts travel time and the lots are small to medium size as you've seen in the photos. Its a win win
Re: Any one mowing yet?
Very nice. I wish the some of the yards are smaller.
Right now my customers are with in eye sight of my house so I don't have any travel time. The largest yard I cut for money is about 2 acres.
I just got done cutting the field and I snapped a few pictures. The field is about 2 acres and takes an hour to cut.

Nice yard, Kingwood990!
I finally got my whole lawn mowed yesterday; the grass was growing rapidly and some of it was getting quite high.

Right now my yard is about 8 inches tall. I have to go to the John Deere dealer this coming up week to pick up some parts so I can mow again. I have mowed maybe 3 times now.

Re: Any one mowing yet?
My Mowing has picked up in the last month, that's why I'm not here as much. I'm mowing Monday through Saturday, and Sunday is the only time I have to do my own.
Re: Any one mowing yet?
I wish I was that busy right now. Right now I am doing my cutting every 7-10 days. We have had lots of rain this week and it is just to wet to cut right now.

Re: Any one mowing yet?
It's busy here for sure. We haven't had any rain for about two weeks but the last rain was six inches worth. That's one of the problems we face here in Florida, we either get it all at one time or it's nothing at all this time of year. Now when the rainy season gets started there's a good chance we will get rain on a daily basis and then of course June is the start of hurricane season and you can never tell what's going to happen then, but you learn to live with it.
Re: Any one mowing yet?
Last night we got some rain but we had a lot of tornado's. We did not get hit but every where around us did.

Re: Any one mowing yet?
Right now things have slowed up a bit, the lack of rain has really hit the lawns bad. The Bahia and Bermuda grass is burning and some of the Augustine is looking a little stressed, we've started cutting about ever ten days.

That sucks about the lack of rain. Last night we got a inch of rain. Right now I am cutting every 10 to 14 days depending on the rain. Waiting to pick up my new trim mower. Its a lot better than the walk behind I have been using.

Re: Any one mowing yet?
An inch of rain, Man I'd would like to see an inch here. Our problem with rain is if it starts it will not no when to quit. Last time it rained we got six inches in a day, then you can't mow for a week.
Re: Any one mowing yet?
We are still busy over here, lawns are just starting to slow down a bit. We have had 3 inches of rain in over 6 months and thats in our best growing season thank god for bore water

Right now we are in a drought so every little bit helps. I do not remember the last time we got 6 inches in a day.
